This past week has been another of quick climate changes here in Tucson, alternating between burning hot and overcast. While the overcast weather is beautiful, it’s admittedly been a bit of a trial to get photos of my outfits with the constantly shifting clouds, but here’s my roundup! As usual, my week consisted of a mixture of Pinup Girl Clothing items and true vintage. Hope you enjoy!

Tuesday’s Look
This is probably the most casual of my outfits for the week with the exception of the shoes. This was the first outing for these blue heels and probably the last with the exception of special events. They were extremely high which looks great but difficult to walk around campus in. The featured pin is one of my newest Disney pin acquisitions and I’m so glad I opted for it since the colors match such a large selection of my summer wardrobe! Also, if you want to get that casual vintage look, find yourself a vintage cashmere sweater! I got this one in a set of 4 for about $10 a piece from Etsy, and I love that sweater girl look – perfect to show off my What Katie Did bullet bra.

Thursday’s Look
This outfit was a bit different from what I normally wear as I’m generally not big on mixing prints, but I received both the top and the brooch on Wednesday and knew I wanted to wear them out! Turned out to be a great excuse to take my favorite skirt out for another spin. The top is a 1970s blouse that I pinned at the neck to create a 1950s keyhole effect that I feel pulls the silhouette together. Definitely my favorite hair day, too.

Friday’s Look
This is my favorite overall outfit as it’s inspired by my favorite Disney film and my favorite leading lady. I decided to get some use out of my Belle & Chip earrings that rarely see the light of day since I need my hair to be up to show them off properly, and one of my other new Disney pin acquisitions – the stained glass rose. To up the princess look, I also threw on what I like to call my Cinderella shoes.

Sunday’s Look
This outfit came about just because I wanted to make use of these 1950s bottoms that I haven’t worn in awhile. They don’t match much aside from black, and I find that the skirt looks frumpy on me due to the length unless I walk around lifting the skirt, so these don’t see the light of day much, but it had been months since I wore em out, so I figured I could go with a darker look to contrast the brightness of Friday’s outfit. This time, as I had acquired a pile of safety pins, I tried pinning the skirt up on the waist band to show of the capris and I absolutely fell in love! I plan to make this a permanent change as I believe it flatters me (and the cut) much better.

Love the outfits, you look so adorable.
My 16 year old nephew walked by and said, “That lady looks fantastic”.
He hinted he wished more women wore that clothing. I had to tell him it was “vintage”.
We both liked the outfit with the blue cashmere-printed slacks, and the dark blue dress with the satiny blouse the best. Kinda of unusual when a 16 year old nephew likes the same things as his 42 year old aunt. Maybe there is hope for his generation?

Miss Lark, quick question on your Friday outfit and I hope I’m not prying; do you wear a bra with that dress? I’m always hesitant to buy dresses with halter tops since I can’t pair them with a bra. Just curious if you had any tips or tricks. Please excuse me from asking about your undergarments.

You can always ask me about my undergarments! I feel it’s a crucial part of getting the look, so no need to feel embarrassed!
I definitely can’t wear a bra with the Lydia for several reasons: first, I had to size down to an XS so I wasn’t swimming in it in the waist – so the cups are extremely tight on me; secondly, the cups aren’t built with any sort of support, if that makes sense, so the bottom of the bustline pops out rather extremely when I do try to zip myself up with a bra; thirdly, the cups are cut teeny! My photos are angled up so they look like they’re covering me more than they are – it’s an extremely booby dress.
One of the reasons I don’t wear this dress as a dress often is because all of these factors lead to my 32DDs being so squashed down and then pushed up that it becomes a straight line up from the side. I wouldn’t buy this dress if you feel you definitely want to wear a bra, BUT I discovered a trick this time when wearing it – I have a pair of bullet bra pads from Lucy B that are very hard and sturdy, and I stuck them in, and it helped drastically! It pulled out the bust area JUST enough that it wasn’t a straight line, and I didn’t have to deal with an underwire or any kind of material below the bust pushing it out. Plus, I’m so squeezed into this dress, I didn’t have to worry about them moving around in there. You could probably use any sort of padding in there as long as its very, very, VERY solid!
But it’s still not ideal, sadly. I wish that Pinup Girl Clothing would redesign the bust as every customer review mentions the same problem as I do

Thank you, I have had this same problem and I’m only a C cup. The padding inserts from other bras is a great idea, I will definitely try it. Pinup Girl Clothing has such lovely halter dresses and all their models seem fairly busty so it’s a little deceiving.
