Hey all!

Busy busy week preparing for my first week back to having a job in two months (and also my birthday). Hope you enjoy my looks!

Love,

Miss Lark Bahar

Monday’s Look

Had to put together an interview look that covered (almost) all of my tattoos and decided to skip the generic, quasi-modern outfit I’ve been opting for in favor of being myself. And what’s more me than wearing all blue?

Weekly Outfit Roundup (02/13/2017-02/19/2017)

collage_fotor1

Hello all!

Another week of outfits for your viewing pleasure. Put together some exciting new looks this week!

Love,

Miss Lark Bahar

Tuesday’s Look

Since Tuesday was Valentine’s Day, I naturally pulled out this Vivien of Holloway dress that rarely gets worn since it’s a bit too tight in the hips and loose in the waist. Oddly enough, I’ve somehow never paired it with all red! I’m not much of a Valentine’s Day gal (pretty neutral about it, really), so I decided to pair it with my sassy Ariel brooch to give the themed look a bit of that skepticism. My wet set was also quite tight for some reason, so my hair looks a lot shorter than it usually does.

Thursday’s Look

Decided to take my brown suit out for a run before spring and summer hit full time, and was amazed when I actually looked at my closet and realized I had the pieces to a perfectly matching ensemble! The dress actually fits me awfully, very tight in the neck, tight in the bust, very loose in the hips and stomach, and the blazer fits loose in the waist and is a bit short (I have a suspicion this set was made for a petite size), but I love the ensemble enough that I might very well save it to get it tailored. I’d primarily bought the set for the blazer, so it’s a happy coincidence finding I can actually do something with the whole thing.

Friday’s Look

Wanted a quick and easy outfit, so decided to separate my Christmas harlequin set again to create a new outfit, this time with the top. Pardon the poor quality photos. Had to use my phone for these! And pardon the half painted nails! Didn’t have time to fix em up before going about my errands.

A Week with TGIllustration: Brooches

Hello all!

Long time no see. Been bogged down with classwork as I dive into the last month of school before completing my Masters, so pardon my absence. I decided to take a brief respite from my papers to showcase a wonderful shop that I discovered while perusing Etsy for Harry Potter brooches: TG Illustration. I was quickly charmed by his artwork that was so beautifully painted on various wooden accessories, and happy when he agreed to collaborate with me. If you’ve been following my Instagram, I’ve spent the last 7 days featuring his wonderful designs on outfits put together specifically to showcase the brooches he sent me. I wanted to create a comprehensive blog post to show off his variety of designs and also give you guys a coupon code to use (scroll to the bottom of the post)!

The first of his designs I created an outfit for was this quirky, fun little octopus that I look forward to wearing particularly around Halloween-time next year!

img_2259

I paired the little guy with my custom playsuit from Ains & Elke Style Haus on Etsy since I loved both the play of the colors together, and the way the octopus tied into the water scene. Who knows what’s lurking in that peaceful scene?

fullsizeoutput_53ac

fullsizeoutput_53b2fullsizeoutput_53b3

The second brooch of his that I showcased was this adorable Russian doll. While I chose to don a summery-er outfit for this look, she matches an insanely wide range of my clothes!

img_2302

For this look, I primarily focused on the color matching since I don’t have much in the way of Russian doll novelty prints (though I know they’re out there!), but it gave me the perfect excuse to wear one of my favorite vintage cashmere sweaters!

img_2268

fullsizeoutput_53b7fullsizeoutput_53ba

The third brooch I styled is the brooch that led me to Tom’s Etsy in the first place. I appreciated that the color scheme of this Ravenclaw crest matched the books instead of the films, and loved the fierce expression of our beloved mascot!

img_2389

I naturally wore this brooch to the Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them premiere, and it went with my Ravenclaw look beautifully.

fullsizeoutput_518d

fullsizeoutput_5199fullsizeoutput_51a2

The fourth brooch I featured was another near and dear to my heart, the rose from Beauty & the Beast. I love the affect of the paint on this number! Really gets the the look of glass across.

img_2451

This look, I paired with my new burgundy top from Devil Inspired as I loved the way the shade of the petals popped with the deep burgundy shade.

fullsizeoutput_53be

fullsizeoutput_53c0fullsizeoutput_53c3

The second to last brooch I styled was a drawing of his featuring the magic mirror from Snow White, and again, the way he emulated the glass with his painting is truly beautiful! I adore the affect.

fullsizeoutput_53c7

This brooch was surprisingly more difficult to style, but then my eye caught the skirt I was gifted last Christmas and I knew it was a match made in heaven! The trim matched the mirror’s frame perfectly, and the dark, almost faded fabric emulated the red tones along the frame, while the black made the actual mirror area really pop.

img_2469

fullsizeoutput_51aeimg_2495

My final brooch was this adorable, mustard-colored telephone. As I don’t have any other brooches that feature this shade, I was excited to play with the color! Plus, it reads very clearly.

img_2561

I naturally decided to pair my telephone with fall colors and immediately went to my abstract ballerina printed skirt that has so many shades to play with – including the mustard that previously never had a chance. I wanted to go with the autumn color scheme, and ended up with this sweater gifted to me by my roomie’s grandmother that also hasn’t gotten a chance to play yet. Finally, the weather permitted it!

img_2519

img_2555img_2539

I hope you’ve enjoyed the looks I created with Tom’s designs and I’m excited to work with them more. With all of his brooches clocking in at less than $6, they’re perfectly affordable without having to give up quality.

These cuties would make great gifts for fellow accessory enthusiasts, and he also offers a range of earrings, prints, badges and necklaces in his shops. Until November 28th, you can enter in the code LARK11 at checkout on his Etsy to receive 10% off on your purchase, making them even more affordable! (And for those fellow bloggers and ootd-ers out there, they’re VERY easy to photograph – a HUGE bonus, in my opinion.)

If you’d like to follow his designs, you can head to these various outlets:

My blog will probably remain a bit slow for awhile as I finish up my degree, so you can keep checking my Instagram to make sure you don’t miss anything!

OUTFIT ROUNDUP CATCH-UP/MASTERPOST: (09/12/2016-10/16/2016)

collage_fotor

Starting to wonder if I should turn this into a monthly outfit roundup. Been really tough keeping up with it with everything happening in my life at the moment. But for now, I’ll still try to post this roundup weekly!

Hope you enjoy this past month’s collection of looks.

Love,

Miss Lark Bahar

09/12/2016

Can’t believe this was only the second time wearing this skirt! Insane. Most exciting part of this outfit is probably the scarf situation. As my wet set wasn’t dry, I knew I had to create an outfit that made use of one of the few scarf colors I own, so I decided to try layering my scarves for the first time. Absolutely LOVE the look it gave! And it helped show off the green of the hills and the flower stems in the skirt while nodding at the purple. Also, this is a top I purchased somewhere like Kohl’s that’s actually perfect for the bullet bra shape. I always hesitate with stretchy modern tops, but they help show off the shape of a vintage bra better than some vintage tops!

09/14/2016

The best part of this outfit was definitely my kitty photobombing my photos. The worst part was that I dropped my brooch and she broke in half after this 😭 Just have to glue her back together….

This is definitely one of my favorite outfits of all time. I originally decided on this top so I had more opportunities to make use of this most fabulous of vintage skirts. And the addition of the hat is really just the icing on the cake. Sooooo gorgeous!

09/19/2016

Ever have one of those days where your camera just doesn’t want to cooperate? This was one of those days. Anyway, this outfit was put together to take my shoes for my future Disneybound out for a test run, and to play around with possible hairdos for the bound as well. This messy poodle would DEFINITELY be perfect for an Ursula bound.

09/21/2016

I’m still unsure if I actually like this outfit as pink, white, gold, and brown aren’t really my ideal pairing or color schemes I’m used to, but I loved getting to think outside of (my) box to match my wonderful new Belle brooch! She’s so perfect, I knew I had to put something together that matched her perfectly.

09/26/2016

I was having a damn good hair day this day. Sometimes wet sets just…turn out perfectly and you really wish you knew what made it happen, but there’s no rhyme or reason. Also, my camera/the lighting decided to make me super pale when shooting this outfit. Again, no rhyme or reason.

09/29/2016

Was excited to finally bring out my Halloween pin-up skirt to play! Had this custom made for me last year and it’s truly one of my favorite pieces. Also tried Besame’s Dusty Rose lipstick shade for the first time. Definitely need to get used to wearing pinks still, but I was rather fond of the contrast between the dusty shade when paired with dark eye make-up.

09/30/2016

I’ve had this sweater top so kindly gifted to me by one of the participants in one of my last giveaways for what feels like ages and just been DYING to wear it. This rich green color is so damn hard to find, so having the chance to add it to my wardrobe in the form of a cashmere sweater is just…a dream come true. And finally I got to take it out for a drive! Ignoring the 90 degree weather as always, to do so. Love the color combination with the rich jewel tones.

Last Sunday’s Look

Yes, I cheated and am including last Sunday’s outfit since it didn’t get to show up on my blog due to it’s appearance at the end of my Week of Disneybounding. I just couldn’t wait to wear my first new Pinup Girl Clothing skirt in…god knows how long! Not a big fan of the shorter skirt (I sold all of my old PUG skirts that hit at my knee), but I love the print too much to return it. Just have to roll my petticoats up three times so they don’t show and it’s not a huge deal.

Monday’s Look

Another new PUG item featured today! I’ve been completely in love with the new printed PUG peasant tops, but couldn’t afford any when they were released. So happy when this Tiki printed one dropped with it’s gorgeous colors when I could afford it. I’m not huge on tiki themed prints, but this one reads in a less cliche way so I knew I had to have it! Plus, it featured the new bust design, so I was curious to see the fit (blog post coming). Also my first time trying out my new shade of Besame lipstick. Totally in love (also blog coming on all my Besame <3).

Thursday’s Look

I realized this week that somehow my roomie’s phone takes better images in our apartment than the camera. Does it make sense? Nope. Am I glad to have realized it? Yep. The intense shadows are so much softer! And you can actually see all of the featured colors. Yay! First time wearing my other new Besame shade, Carmine, an orange-y red that’s still a bit scary for me to wear.

OUTFIT ROUNDUP CATCH-UP/MASTERPOST: (07/04/2016-08/06/2016)

I’ve been so bad about the outfit roundups lately…..sorry, guys! Life’s been all over the place with the move, and these take a bit too long for me to make time for ’em lately. I promise I’ll go back to writing them every week after this.

Enjoy!

This was the first run this summer of a dress that accidentally disappeared in my closet. A huge shame since it’s the perfect summer staple for those days its too hot to wear…anything, really. This Tuesday’s Look

Having received a whole bundle of items from the wonderful shop Lady K Loves the past week (review to come), I knew I had to try to avoid wearing and showing off the items until my blog post, but just couldn’t resist at least wearing the staple piece that came in the lot! So I planned this outfit around the beautiful black wrap top.

Pearl Earrings: Thrifted
Lipstick: Besame Cosmetics’ Merlot

Taupe/Mauve Heels: Thrifted

This Thursday’s Look

This was the last little hurrah for this dress of mine as it’s simply too short and the bust too small. It’s currently on its way to a new home, but not before I got to pair it with one of my new hats gifted to me so kindly by my great aunt for a cute, Southern Belle kinda feel!

This Friday’s Look

I’ve been avoiding wearing this skirt as it’s a part of a set custom made for me by Ains & Elke Stylehaus that I planned on reviewing, but I’m so booked that I figure eh…….people will forget by the time I get to it 😉 And also….balloons!

Outfit Roundup Catch-up/Masterpost: (05/23/2016-07/03/2016)

It’s been more than an entire month since my last roundup! Figured I would put together a giant post as a catch-up.

Enjoy!

This look was a bit out of the box for me, but I haven’t worn this skirt in ages and liked how the shades of the top matched the skirt when paired with a bright red belt to pull it all together.

I love love love this outfit for a whole slew of reasons, but perhaps the most obvious one is that I so rarely find ways to create purple outfits (this skirt was the only purple item I owned), but I received the purple striped top with the bow tie, the earrings, and the belt all in the same week, and BOOM! Perfectly purple.

Hands down one of my favorite outfits of all time! I just love these colors and everything matches so perfectly top to bottom. I felt so pretty! And this was the first time I took my Pinup Girl Clothing underskirt for a run.

I’m generally not a huge fan of red, white, and blue…but this outfit fit together too seamlessly to ignore! And I’m always glad when a chance to wear this hat arises as I don’t find it terribly versatile.

I adore the sweetness of this outfit! Yellow’s another one of those colors I’m hoping to expand in my wardrobe – particularly yellows of the buttery variety. I’d always felt yellow would look atrocious on me, but I’m so pleasantly surprised.

This was another one of those “I probably wouldn’t be wearing this if I had to walk around at all today” outfits. Pencils are a no-no in 115+ degree weather! I wish I could use this skirt in the spring and summer time to give it the lighter look it deserves, but it’s just too hot normally.

Had the pleasure of adding these capris to my wardrobe this past week. The first real tiki-style print I own! Also was working with my natural hair this week – which means my victory rolls were about 10x as large.

This Monday’s Look

This was probably my favorite look of the week as it incorporated a whole slew of “favorites:” favorite vintage top, favorite Pinup Girl Clothing top, favorite Disney brooch, favorite style of hat – even my coveted peplum “New Look” silhouette. I can earnestly say that I will spend my whole life trying to find more of these vintage Catalina tops. Still a bit heartbroken that I found a pink version but it came with the full play-set and sold almost immediately. Definitely the one that got away.

This Tuesday’s Look

These shorts made their way into my wardrobe this week with the intention of using them for a future Disneybound. Of course then I realized I somehow don’t have nearly enough printed tops to pair them with! Most of my prints are represented in my bottoms. Guess I’ll have to change that….but hey, this outfit matched my new evil eye bracelets from Turkey perfectly!

This Wednesday’s Look

Rainy overcast day means breaking out the “sleeved” shirts! Tried the “stripes as a neutral” look today and I can honestly say I’m in LOVE.  Must acquire striped tops now.  And I love that the red accents on the top matched the belt so well and pulled the look together so perfectly.

Review of Belle Blossoms’ Hair Flowers + Coupon Code

Though I often review brooches (as they’re quite obviously my favorite accessory), I wanted to branch out and review a more 1940s-reminiscent accessory today: hair flowers.

With my hair growing out to unmanageable lengths, I find myself reverting to longer 1940s dos more than 1950s out of necessity (as always happens. The perfect way to camouflage a limp or overgrown do is with hair flowers! When Belle Blossoms responded positively to my hopeful request that she participate in my giveaway, I was ecstatic! Her shop has always been one of my favorite hair accessory/flower shops, and to top it off, she carries grip-tuths! The only hair combs that hold in my thick, thick hair.

For my giveaway which you can enter here, she donated these beautiful accessories:

unnamed

White hair scarf, white snood, Erica’s Irish Wedding Clip

For my review, she sent along three gorgeous hair clips of my own! I love the variety of shapes and sizes, and they all work perfectly with the half poodle look, victory rolls, really, any ’40s do! And they all coincidentally happen to match my Paris Jenny 😉

Took a slight field trip to find the rare selection of flowers available here in the desert to show off their beauty! Enjoy 💚💜💛

The Leilani Tropical Cluster

Belle’s Purple Hydrangea Side Comb

The Fuoco Nelle Vene Passion Flower
(My personal favorite)

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for some hair flowers and accessories of your own! And go ahead and visit her on her website, her Facebook or her Instagram to see more of her work. And if you really love what she creates, you can even join her Blossom of the Month Club where she’ll send you surprise flowers each month – a great way to try something new and quickly build your collection!

My 10K Giveaway, Pt. 2: Custom Hand-painted Skirt from Vance Clothing, Belle Blossoms Hair Accessories, and My Premier Amour Custom Blouse

Hello friends and followers!

As I’m sure many of you have seen on my Instagram, I recently hit 10K followers! 🎉🎈💥

d782ba3a-252d-439c-b585-9f0ef0c8de50 (1)

This is something that I had never imagined was a possibility! After all, it wasn’t THAT long ago that I was reeling over hitting just 1K. I’m so appreciative to all of my followers, old and new, and particularly appreciative of all those friends who stuck by my Instagram even when I started flooding it with photos of my vintage clothing.

Having seen this impending momentous occasion, I wanted to give a little something back to everyone, so sent out a call asking shops to collaborate with me. I was so pleasantly surprised at the wide range and quantity of responses, that I decided to split my giveaway into two parts, accessories, and bigger ticket items!

For this portion of my giveaway, 3 separate winners will be chosen for my three separate prizes. Here’s a break down of all three items and the contest widgets where you can enter. The contest ends June 12th – same date as the corresponding Instagram portion of my giveaway.

Prize 1:

The first item on my list is perhaps my favorite of the donated items as the possibilities are endless! Although I had known Miss Lillian Vance previously, it was upon seeing her photographs with Miss Victory Violet in Disneyland that I realized she is one of those talented people who can hand-make and hand-paint skirts! I immediately contacted her asking if we could work something out, and I am officially in her queue to get a skirt painted with Meg’s “Won’t Say I’m in Love” scene in Hercules.

I’m thrilled to announce that she’s also offering up a skirt for my contest! The skirt can be of cotton or felt material (your choice), and she’ll paint one image on it of your choice, as well. This is such a huge prize, and I’m so happy to give you all a chance to win one of her gorgeous works of art.

(A note, since this is a custom item, it’ll be at least a month before you receive it so Vance Clothing has time to discuss options with you, then sew and hand-paint it.)

Prize 2: The second item on my list is a selection of hair accessories from Belle Blossoms, one of my all-time favorite hair flower designers out there, and my go-to shop for hair snoods and the holy grail brand of hair combs, Grip-Tuth. Though I haven’t been using flowers lately as the selection I had reached an untimely demise over the past year, I’m eagerly awaiting some hair flowers from Belle Blossoms myself and was so happy when she agreed to donate items for the giveaway.  She created a hair flower she calls “Erica’s Irish Wedding Clip” for my giveaway as well as sending along a white snood and a white scarf, perfect for wedding or daily wear in the hot summer time (pictured below)!

Prize 3:

If you saw my last post on my blog, you’ve seen my review of my custom My Premier Amour Charm & Eloquence blouse made for me with the gorgeous Paris print.

IMG_6060

The final item in the blog portion of my giveaway is this same blouse in an adorably kitschy cat print customized to your size! Perfect for warmer or cooler weather, and to add that little extra bit of interest into your wardrobe with the peplum cut (pictured below).

(Note: Since this item is also made just for the winner, it will take around 2 weeks to get the top made from the time the winner is chosen.)

My Premier Amour’s Charm & Eloquence Blouse Giveaway

If smaller accessories float your boat, you can also head over to my Instagram for Part 1 of my giveaway and the chance to win all of these adorable items:

Good luck everyone, and thanks for sticking around!

Since I was too busy with writing papers last week to create my weekly outfit roundup, I’m cheating and throwing in the two outfits I put together last week as well. Hope you enjoy!

Miss Lark Bahar

Last Week’s Tuesday Look

This outfit verges on being my all time favorite. The top is a new-to-me Catalina top that is the best fitting top I’ve EVER had, and the hat is my favorite of all time as well. As I was attending RuPaul’s Drag Race: Battle of the Seasons, I KNEW I had to put together a fabulous outfit, and I definitely think this did the job. And I knew there was no argument there when I got the end-all-be-all of approvals from the two best glamour queens out there, Violet Chachki and Miss Fame.

Last Week’s Sunday Look

This outfit was quickly thrown together for my review of Housewife Chic by Ruby’s brooches. I knew I wanted a blank canvas to properly show off my new brooches, so I went with a white top and just added on from there.

This Week’s Tuesday Look

To say I was excited for Tuesday’s look would be an understatement. Thanks to a good friend, I received one of my Pinup Girl Clothing unicorn dresses, the Paris Jenny! It’s taken all my will power not to wear this every day of the week because I love it so much. Jenny dresses are my new favorite reproduction dress style. The fit is perfection on me, and the boning doesn’t give me any problems like it seems to for other people!

This Week’s Friday Look

This bright blue wool dress is the brightest item I have in my wardrobe. Decide to showcase various shades of blue with it for this outfit. The camera couldn’t properly capture the gorgeous color, and the bust is incredibly small on me, but the dress fits gloriously on my hips, and I’m happy to have something with a different neckline in my closet.
